MEDIA ADVISORY

Excitement is rippling through the continent’s ski communities as one single word is whispered down the streets and the phone lines…
”SNOW!”
Winter is definitely on its way, and that’s good news for ski resorts in the Kootenay Rockies, and for avid US skiers who will soon be able to enjoy our world-class winter product simply by hopping on a Delta air plane.
The FlyYXC Alliance and its partners continue to move forward with U.S. public relations and advertising campaigns marketing the Canadian Rockies International Airport and new Delta air service. That first Delta RJ200 jet arrives at the Canadian Rockies International Airport in less than a month.
Inaugural flight celebrations on the ground at YXC are being hosted by the Cranbrook and District Chamber of Commerce, and a contingency of regional representatives are planning to be on that first Delta flight that lands in Cranbrook. That first jet is scheduled to touch down at 1:08 pm on Wednesday, December 17th.
The first media release put out by FlyYXC’s newly contracted U.S. public relations firm Peeples Ink was picked up by more than 100 U.S. media - everything from the Hollywood Reporter to The Sports Network to the Boston Business Journal. The second release, introducing some of the specials that are available to Delta/Cranbrook passengers, has just gone out south of the border.
Ski operators and city destination marketing organizations (DMOs) are on the road, attending ski & travel trade shows around the globe. Regional representatives have already attended shows in Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton, London (England), Seattle, Philadelphia, Denver, Minneapolis, Portland and Boston. Kootenay Rockies industry representative are attending under the regional “Powder Highway” banner, several specifically promoting the new, easy access via Delta.
With the extremely exciting US Presidential election now behind us, the FlyYXC Alliance is moving forward with a targeted online US advertising campaign in four strategically chosen US cities: LA, Salt Lake City, Minneapolis and Atlanta. Detailed online tracking will give them a sense of exactly who’s clicking on the Kootenay Rockies!
